Music from the grand baroque period and beyond: Telemann, Alexandre Glazunov, Nathan Shirley, Alfred Schnittke & Padre Antonio Soler Explore the limitless possibilities of the sweet suite! Always delightful - this form of composition is playful and creative. Our program features a charming Suite in the Old Style for violin and harpsichord by Alfred Schnittke – a Soviet and German composer strongly influenced by Shostakovich. For a harpsichord feature Dana Burnett will perform a wild solo - Sacrifice by Nathan Shirley. A gorgeous Suite (mvt.III Orientale Andante) for string quartet by Alezandre Glazunov will take you back to old Russia. A flutist’s favorite for all time is the Telemann Suite in A minor – presented as a centerpiece in this program. Although not a suite – we will conclude with a thrilling Fandango by Padre Antonio Soler for it is truly SWEET!
